Timothy J. Compeau

I am a historian of colonial North America and the Atlantic World with a particular focus on the cultural history of the Revolutionary period. I received my PhD from the University of Western Ontario in 2015. My dissertation explored how loyalists dealt with defeat and exile within eighteenth century honour codes. I have an MA in Public History from Western and a Bachelor of Arts (History) from Queenphoto.jpg‘s University in Kingston, Ontario.

In 2015-16 I held a postdoctoral research position at Brock University exploring the use of augmented reality (AR) applications for public history. I teach Digital Public History at the University of Western Ontario and Global, American, and British History at Huron University College in London, Ontario.

I stay active in public history and have consulted private and public organizations on numerous projects.
